Prep shortcuts are the number one killer: skipped cleaning, no primer, no caulk. Ceilings are harder than they look, and crisp trim lines take practice. Most callbacks we get started as a DIY weekend that ran long.
When to definitely call
Homes built before 1978 (lead paint), anything with water damage, lath and plaster repairs, and exterior work above one story. These carry health, structural, or safety risks that are not worth saving a few hundred dollars on.
