Drywall & sheetrock

Drywall & Sheetrock in North & Central New Jersey

It's the DW in our name. From full hangs on new additions to Level 5 skim coats and water damage repair, one crew takes you from bare studs to painted walls.

The Sterling standard

Drywall is half our name for a reason.

Plenty of painters will patch a hole. We hang, tape, and finish entire homes: new construction, additions, gut renovations, basement and garage finishes, and commercial spaces. Board hung tight and screwed on schedule, joints taped and bedded in setting-type compound, then two to three finish coats of mud, each sanded, until the wall is dead flat under a raking light. Where the spec calls for it, we deliver a true Level 5 finish: a full skim coat over the entire surface so high-gloss paint or harsh side light shows nothing.

Repairs get the same treatment. Water-damaged ceilings are cut back to sound board, framed out if needed, and rebuilt, never just painted over. Patches are feathered wide and texture-matched to the surrounding surface so the repair disappears. If your existing walls are rough, a skim coat can take decades of abuse back to smooth.

Because we also paint, there is no handoff gap: one crew, one standard, primed and painted in the same project if you want it. Written proposal within 48 hours, 2-year written workmanship warranty, veteran-owned since 1998.

How we do it

Our drywall process.

From Bare Studs to Paint-Ready

01
Hang
Board selected for the space: moisture-resistant in baths, ceiling board overhead, standard elsewhere. Hung tight, screwed to schedule, seams staggered.
02
Tape & Bed
Joints and corners taped and bedded in setting-type compound for strength. Corner bead set straight and true on every outside corner.
03
Finish Coats
Two to three coats of finishing compound, each feathered wider than the last and allowed to dry fully before the next goes on.
04
Sand & Inspect
Sanded smooth, then checked under a raking light, which is the only honest way to inspect drywall. Level 5 skim coats get a final full-surface pass.
05
Prime or Paint
New board sealed with drywall primer so the finish coat lays down evenly. We can stop at paint-ready or carry straight through to finished, painted walls.

Common questions

Drywall and sheetrock questions.

Level 5 is a full skim coat over the entire wall after standard taping and finishing. You want it where light rakes across the surface, in rooms with big windows, hallways with wall sconces, or anywhere you plan a higher-sheen paint. We will tell you honestly whether your room needs it.
Yes, and correctly: we cut back to sound board, address the framing if needed, hang new board, tape, finish, and texture-match. The leak source must be fixed first, and we will not close up a wet cavity.
In most cases, yes. We match knockdown, orange peel, and sand finishes, and we test the match before committing it to your wall. If a seamless match is not achievable, we say so and discuss skimming the full surface instead.
Both. Doorknob holes, plumbing access cuts, and cracked seams are everyday work for us, and small patches typically take 2 to 3 days including compound drying time. If painting follows, we bundle it into one visit.
